Dear Editor,
Teddy Roosevelt said, "Speak softly, and carry a big stick." There appears to be needless confusion surrounding John Kerry's votes on Iraq. If one researchs the two different bills and Kerry's votes, you will find both votes totally consistent with his views. Kerry initially voted to authorize President Bush to "carry a big stick." When it became clear that Bush forgot the part about "speaking softly" and that Bush planned to use that stick no matter what the outcome of the diplomatic efforts, Kerry wisely voted against Bush's Iraq war.
George Bush has been right on everything, but he has been wrong on everything as well. He has been wrong on the war, wrong on the economy, wrong on the environment, wrong on education, and AWOL when it comes to improving access to healthcare. It is time for progessive leadership that can lead us in a new direction.
